Closed List holds at most ten commitments. Everything else waits on Open until you choose it. The three tabs are List, Open and Settings.
Frequently asked questions
How does the closed list work?
Choose between one and ten active tasks, then tap Close the list. That selection stays across days and relaunches. Completed, returned and let-go rows remain visible, and finishing one does not open a place for another. Tap Revise when you want to end the selection, keep its unfinished tasks and choose again.
Why can’t I add another task after finishing one?
A closed selection is meant to shrink. Direct entry, promotion from Open and trades are available only while Choosing. Tap Revise on the List tab to return to Choosing while keeping every unfinished task.
Why can’t I add an eleventh task?
Ten is the ceiling. While Choosing, adding from Open to a full list opens a trade: pick the task that leaves, then return it to Open or let it go. Cancelling changes nothing. Once you close the list, new commitments wait until Revise. The ten-slot limit is the same for everyone and is never behind a purchase.
What is the difference between “Return to Open” and “Let go”?
Return to Open keeps the possibility without committing to it. Let go records that you stopped pursuing it. Both release the active task and can be undone for ten seconds. In a closed selection, the resolved row remains visible until Revise and the released capacity does not admit another commitment yet.
I finished or let go of something and the Undo banner disappeared.
Undo lasts ten seconds and survives a relaunch inside them. After that, open History from the bottom of the List screen, find the completed or let-go entry and choose Restore. It comes back to Open as a possibility, not as a commitment. A task you returned to Open is already there.
I said “Enough for today” and now I want to keep working.
Tap Resume. Nothing else resumes a stopped day on purpose: looking at the list, capturing to Open, switching tabs, reading History and reopening the app all leave the day stopped. While it is stopped you can still capture, rename, search, read and undo; choosing, trading, finishing and letting go need Resume first.
Why did my day not reset at midnight?
A new day starts at 4 a.m. by default, so working at 1 a.m. still counts as yesterday. You can move the boundary in Settings → Your day → Day starts at. A new day clears Enough; your list and First pin stay, and finished tasks remain in History.
Does it sync between my devices?
Yes, optionally. Turn on Sync with iCloud in Settings. It is off until you turn it on. Your list, Open, history, First pin, Enough and current selection then follow you through your own iCloud account. Day-start, Undo and first-use state stay on each device. Sign in to the same Apple Account on both devices, and give each one a moment on a network.
How do I capture something without finding Open first?
Use another app’s share sheet, Siri, Shortcuts, the Action button, or the Closed List control in Control Center and on the Lock Screen. The control opens the app’s capture sheet; the line is written to Open after you tap Save. A capture takes none of the ten slots and never resumes a day you have called Enough on.
Where is my data, and how do I get it out?
The app starts with a local database on your iPhone. Settings → Your data can prepare a readable text export or a structured JSON export of your task data and list state. Both go to the standard iOS share sheet, so where the copy lands is your choice. There is no import.
How do I remove my data?
Deleting Closed List removes its local database from that iPhone. It does not remove exported files, device backups, a copy already stored in iCloud or local copies on other devices. If you used iCloud sync, Apple lets you view and delete storage used by third-party apps from your Apple Account’s iCloud storage; follow Apple’s current instructions. Manage other devices, backups and exported copies separately.
What does the purchase unlock?
Admitting new commitments: choosing something from Open, writing straight into an empty slot, and trading one task for another. Finishing, returning to Open, letting go, Undo, Enough, History, Restore, capture and export always work. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription, and there is no trial.
I bought it and it is asking again.
Settings → Your copy → Restore purchases, signed in to the Apple Account that bought it.
I want a refund.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Request one through Apple’s Report a Problem page for your Apple Account.
Is there an iPad app, a Mac app, or a widget?
Not yet. Closed List is iPhone only, in portrait. There is no widget that shows your list: getting a thought in is the point; being watched by ten commitments is not.

- what you did, tap by tap, starting from a state you can describe;
- what you expected, and what happened instead;
- where you were — which tab, which sheet, whether the Undo banner was showing, whether the day was stopped, and whether iCloud sync was on;
- your iPhone model, iOS version and the app version shown in Settings.
If something disappeared, say whether it was still gone after you force-quit and reopened the app. That one fact separates a display problem from a data problem.
